The next PTA General Membership Meeting will be on Thursday, January 12th at 3:45 in the staff lounge.  We are looking for new officers to nominate for the next school year 2012-13.  You need not have any experience to volunteer for any position as the Washington State PTA and local members are always on hand to help out.  Contact any current officer to learn more about how you can take on a leadership role and keep our PTA healthy and active throughout another year!  (Officers are required to be paid members in order to be elected, so you can still join for this year.)

The next Skateland Family Night will be on Tuesday, March 13th from 6 to 8:30 P.M.  Cost to skate is still only $4.50, and just watching is always free!

If you know someone you would like to nominate for the Golden Acorn (volunteer award) or Outstanding Educator or Advocate, please contact any of the current board member.

Keep saving your Boxtops and Campbell's Soup labels!!  Campbell's Soup Labels and food Box Tops are ongoing fundraising for Hoover PTA that costs you nothing except the time it takes to cut off labels, save and give to your student's classroom teacher.  Twice a year the K-2 and 3-5 classes with the most box tops and labels earn an ice cream party for their class!  There is also a table outside the office with a bin and PTA schoolhouse mailbox where you can put yours at anytime.  The first collection date for this year is coming up on December 9th!!
 
eScrip is a partnership with Safeway where a percent of your purchases are donated directly to the Hoover Elementary PTA .  Sign up online using the eScrip link and start earning money to support the PTA Programs listed below.  It's an easy and free way to have family and friends help support our school with no added costs for anyone!  YOU MUST SIGN UP EVERY YEAR to continue supporting the school of your choice, so sign up today!
 

The PTA Reflections Art Program theme for the 2011-12 school year will be "Diversity means..." for those of you who like to plan ahead!  Entries can be in Visual Arts, Musical Composition, Video, Dance/Choreographer, Photography and Writing.  You may enter as many times as you would like and in as many categories.  Prizes are awarded in different age categories at IKE in January; entries are due by the end of November.

 
The Hoover Elementary PTA sponsors the following events and programs at our school:

Back to School Ice Cream Social, Halloween Carnival, Family Skateland Nights, Field Day, Scholastic Book Fairs, Reflections Art Program, Accelerated Reader quizzes and prizes, Fall Food Drive for NW Harvest Food Shelf, Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners and gift cards, student Husky folders for homework, student Husky t-shirts (as funds allow), Golden Acorn, Outstanding Educator and Advocate awards, Dr. Seuss' Birthday Party celebration & drawing contest, donations for classroom field trips, breakfast and lunch for back-to-school and National Educator's week for staff, and Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) currently in need of a new dad to be the leader.
